Marta Mancini (Rome, 1981) lives and works in Rome where she graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in 2006. Since her debut, Mancini’s path as a painter has been committed to a constant redefinition of the “picture” in its linguistic, organic and metaphoric aspects. One that, over the years, has brought her from a figurative work to a visual simplification, an inquiry on painting’s basic elements. Whether one looks at her early landscapes or at the recent canvases, based on the figural potential of shapes arrived at via subtraction, Mancini’s paintings continually test the formal, expressive and psychological dynamics involved in the creation of a pictorial space.
